Witch Trials In Leicestershire in the 17th Century-Gretton Local History Society

Doctor Leonard Holden will talk on two famous trials.The Bosworth Witch Trial where 9 women from Husbands Bosworth were accused of witchcraft and sent to Leicester for trial found guilty and hanged.
The case was a travesty which eventually led to the intervention of King James 1
The second trial surrounded the Manners Family of Belvoir Castle who accused some women who had worked at the castle of putting spells on thier children and causing thier death.
Subscriptions are due this month @ £10 ordinary and £8 concessions gives free admission to all talks
Non members welcome @ £3 per talk.
Refreshments are served and a raffle run to help pay for the speaker's fees.
