A showcase of what the county and surrounds can offer both tourists and residents
is underway in a local initiative for English Tourism Week. The Discover Rutland Weekend brings together a series of special events and offers at hotels, restaurants and visitor attractions, including today a new Anglo-Saxon Heritage Trail launching at Oakham All Saints Church following on from the Queen Edith exhibition. Discover Rutland Project Officer Holly Blackband says it's an important weekend to kick off the season.
‘Basically the idea is it's making sure that we shout about everything that's great in Rutland, everything that makes us special. And like you say, it's taking place this weekend so we've got lots of different offers across the county and just beyond as well. We've got some offers in Stamford and some really exciting offers and events. So we're really looking forward to it. We have everything from wine tastings through to new heritage trails in Oakham. And yeah, we're hoping that obviously it will bring people into the area, but also it's great for people who live here to make sure that they're making the most of their county as well’.
