The two campaign groups against the proposed development on the north side of Stamford are joining forces for what they say is one final push for people to comment. Neither Stamford North nor Quarry Farm have been approved for planning yet. The South Kesteven District Local Plan is also out for consultation following some revisions.
Both groups agree Stamford is full and the infrastructure isn't there to accommodate over 2,000 houses. Carys Vaughan is from Protect Quarry Farm:
"I think, you know, everyone kind of acknowledges that Stanford's unique in a sense. It's a small market town and it was originally designed with horse and cart, you know, in terms of all the roads. So there is a limit to what actually can be built and where we can build. I think our point as well is that if the plan ultimately is to develop on the scale that they're suggesting, then actually what's needed is long term infrastructure solutions."
and Laura Upson is from Stand Up for Stamford which is campaigning against the Stamford North development:
"I'd really urge you to go and comment again on Stamford North on the planning portal, which is S23/0055. We'd really urge you to go and do that and also make your comments on the local plan because you know, Stamford is this beautiful place that we call home. We absolutely love it and all we're trying to do is to protect it. That's all we're here to do."
