There’s still time to have your say on Rutland County Council's proposals to change their council tax reduction scheme.
This gives financial help to people on certain benefits including Universal Credit with their council tax and also some people working but on a low income. The council proposes to move to a banded income scheme from next April to cut down on paperwork and make claiming quicker. They do say however, no changes will be made in relation to pensioners within the support scheme, that care leavers will continue to receive support until they are aged 25 and this doesn't relate to the rules on single person discount. The online consultation runs on the council website for three more weeks until the 20th of November and you can ask for help to complete it from a friend or relative or by calling the council's reception number.
