A memory tree is going up in Uppingham's Falcon Hotel today to help people talk about grief.
‘We know at Christmas with this time of the year it can be really difficult. Especially if your loved ones have died around this time of the year and we tend to think of people a lot more. Last year we did it and people loved it because it just gives them the opportunity to remember their loved ones, whether it's sad, happy, just in lots and lots of different ways. It's nice for someone to do something. It was all ages. Last year we had children and adults of all ages, older people and it was just really lovely. People come and share their memories and write little messages about those who have died’.
That's Claire Henry from the Grief and Help Points in Rutland and also Dying Matters in the county. The initiative is part of National Grief Awareness Week and is in partnership with the Falcon Hotel, LOROS, Dove Cottage, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and the Uppingham and Rutland Lodge. it'll be in the hotel lounge at the Falcon from today and then moved to the parish church after the 19th of December.
