Rutland and Stamford has woken up to a covering of snow this morning after several centimetres fell during the night.
Rutland and Stamford Sound's weatherman Phil Morrish was watching it come in.
‘The snow has come up from the southwest over the Arctic air from Thursday and Friday, which has come down as we sort of said would happen and the snow has arrived. Now it's moved up overnight. We’ve had a covering of snow about 3 centimetres and some places little bit more. Temperatures have just been slightly above freezing most of the night. So the snow is tending to build that slushy wet variety that's making it quite slippy out there and we're expecting temperatures actually to rise a little bit. I said we've got some warmer air to the south of this low pressure system and they're probably right about four or five degrees by the end of the afternoon to melting any of that snow. So it's really this morning we've got to look out for the hazard. It is very slippy out there. Take care you're moving around and it's also very wet if you like making snowball it’s got a very high wet content’.
