A soldier from Stamford who's helping deliver aid in Ukraine says he believes the country will only agree to a ceasefire without compromise.
Jack Bon Holly's been briefly back in Stamford. He's received a mayor's award for his work, which started off as a medic on the front line. Last night he was guest of honour at a sharing meal with the local Ukrainian community. Jack said, although he tries to avoid politics in his work, he and his partner who deliver aid do speak to the soldiers.
"What I will say about recent events is that it's helped overcome some of the fatigue in Ukraine and it's really galvanized their spirits and their resolve and people who don't necessarily support people like President Zelensky politically are absolutely behind him. Masha has made a point on the last mission we did together, of actually talking to some of the warriors about, you know, what a peace might look like under the sort of terms that Trump was suggesting. And most of the guys aren't having it. They don't want that. They would feel that that would be a surrender, and they're not prepared to do that."
