Uppingham's sense of community was celebrated as the spotlight was shone on the former gold winning market town for East Midlands in Bloom.
The judges said lots of care and attention was taken by many and they could see all the little details that made it stand out. Chair of Uppingham in Bloom, Sarah Medley, said it was really special to see the town coming together.
‘We focused heavily on our planting Making sure our colour schemes are very cohesive. We've been delighted at the response from the public where they've also taken the initiative and planted up lots of beautiful examples of well thought through planting throughout town. Mercers Yard has developed as a project. We are most grateful to sponsors and to the work of Uppingham School. Rose and Josh and the gardeners, Keith and all the rest of them have done. Looks fabulous and will continue to improve. Crown Passage in bloom concentrated on to just improve the environment for the traders and local people. Swan Yard and Hopes Yard just delights that the local homeowners have just made into very beautiful spaces’.
