The Aqua Park in Rutland is now open every day through the summer and has 15 new obstacles for anyone over six years old who can swim a length to enjoy.
The attraction, which is coming up to 10 years at Whitwell Creek has also been visiting schools in Rutland to talk about water safety, having raised over £1,500 for the Royal Life Saving Society in sessions in Rutland and Lakeside in Essex. Connor James from the Aqua Park in Rutland says it's important to enjoy the water safely.
‘Following that round of fundraising that's come from our visitors' generosity and our senior lifeguards have gone into the schools there and given those safety talks with the resources that have been provided by the RLSS. It's been a lovely feedback loop and I know George and I have personally really enjoyed going into schools and it Is great for the local kids to see, you know, people just a bit older than them. Either to inspire the next generation of lifeguards or just from a peer-to-peer point of view pick up that information about water safety. There's loads of fun to be had out on the water. We live and breathe water sports, but also there's a very serious message there about how to enjoy it safely and some of the dangers that are out there’.
