Work has begun to replace Barrowden Village Hall with a new community hub.
Messenger Construction is managing the work, which started with a new car park in the grounds of the current surgery. Now work has begun to dismantle the original 1927 building. Chair of Village Hall trustees Valerie Fraser explains more:
"We've completed the new car park in Kings Lane, which has released the community shop car park for our constructors to work safely during the construction. We are hoping to complete demolition in the next few weeks and start ground works after that. Once the groundwork's complete, a timber frame building will be delivered and erected, then the building will be clad in local stone and the new slate roof will be fitted."
