South Kesteven District Council collected 725 kilos of used batteries in its first week of kerbside collections, the equivalent of 29,000 AA size.
Anyone who uses a wheelie bin can leave batteries in the freezer or nappy bag with their bin across the district. Those who still put out bags for their rubbish have to take their batteries to recycling centre or battery sellers such as a supermarket.
