Stamford Police is asking shoppers to be extra vigilant when out in our towns at busy times after several reports of purse thefts
on market days, especially Stamford on a Friday. They are urging shoppers to keep their personal wallet and a zipped back in front of them and be mindful of people bumping into them, causing a distraction and trying to steal a purse. You're also being asked not to leave belongings unattended in a cafe or shop, even briefly, and not to carry your pin number written down with your bank card. If you do find your personal wallet has been stolen, report it to the police and also contact your bank.
