Christine Wise has been elected as the new leader of Rutland County Council
by a majority of 19 out of 25 fellow councillors present. In fact all but the Conservative opposition. Fellow Lib Dem Gale Waller becoming a backbencher enabled a new cabinet appointment which went to independent Oliver Hemsley, who alongside Rosemary Powell creates a coalition cabinet with the four Liberal Democrats. Despite this, Councillor Wise says she's determined to work cross party to achieve the best for the county in what could be the final two years of Rutland County Council and the local government reorganisation.
