An emergency training exercise is taking place in Oakham tonight
involving Police, Fire and Rescue, First Responders and Rutland Medical Solutions who are hosting the event at Saddlers Court. It is to test the services working together in a scenario of a large scale road crash. Casualties will be played by actors from Oakham School. A number of loud bangs are expected at 7:00pm, followed by a large plume of smoke, and they'll be noise from emergency cutting equipment. You're being asked to keep away from the scene, which may be distressing to watch as it's designed to be as realistic as possible. Drones will also be flying above. The operation should be over by 9:00pm.
