A wedding florist opens her new business at Rutland Garden Village today.
Rutland Florals opens the flower shed behind the main plant area at the centre on Ashwell Road in Oakham today. Owner Angela Wheatley hopes it will fill a gap in the market there and also help her expansion.
‘My grandmother was a very keen flower arranger. She was a member of a lot of the local societies and a florist herself. She did many weddings and events. My mum helped her. They had a little side hustle of their own going back in the 80s. Yeah, and it was kind of in my veins. I didn't know that that was how things were going to be. But I always gardened and I loved flowers from a very young age. I've been running the weddings and events side of Rutland Florals for the last couple of years and as things progressed, there was a need for gifting and I very quickly outgrew my garden studio. So there was an opportunity to move in here and the flower shed was born’.
