Rutland County Council is to stop subsidising a school bus to the King's School in Peterborough at the end of the school year,
saying they can't justify paying £3,000 per pupil for the service. Around a dozen students catch the R4 between Uppingham, Glaston, Morcott and South Luffenham, which then goes onto Duddington and Wansford. The council says it is parental choice for children to go to the King's School and students are not entitled to free transport. They ran a consultation for the school and parents to comment on the proposal before making the final decision, saying they need to make better use of the £40,000 saved to serve more people in the county with their public transport needs.
