The launch of a new place where free food is available in Stamford has been warmly welcomed by local people. George’s Food Hub opened for the first time this week within the grounds of St Augustine’s school on Kesteven Road.
The food hub will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 2:45pm to 4:15pm. People visiting the Food Hub on its opening day told Rutland and Stamford that the facility is badly needed. Food is being collected from suppliers in the area who are donating a wide range of food items. The driving force behind the project is George Hetherington, who also played a key role in setting up Second Helpings at Stamford Methodist Church.
