There's a chance to throw horseshoes this lunchtime in the annual New Year's Day game
Spanhoe Lodge near Laxton. The annual competition is in memory of Roger Glithero who organised it for 30 years. It started life in Bullock and it's been hosted at Spanhoe Lodge since 2015. General manager there, Reece Crane says there's a cash prize which depends on how many people enter and then it's down to the best result.
‘You do throw like a horseshoe at a spike in the ground. There are teams of two and I believe I don't normally play because obviously we normally quite busy serving stuff at the bar, but obviously I think the idea of the game is to get the actual horseshoe completely around the spike but then I think they measure like those who are closest’.
