Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is asking holidaymakers to check their accommodation is fire safe when they arrive
to make sure smoke detectors work, plan your escape route if the worst happens and what you would do if a small fire broke out. They are appealing to those in self catering accommodation to carry out a few potentially lifesaving checks, particularly if you have young children with them or have a disability.
’You've arrived in your caravan or holiday let. What's the first thing you do? Take a minute to think about fire safety. First, how would you know if there was a fire? Is there a smoke detector? Does it work? Is the walkways nice and clear? Do the windows open fully and does everybody know their way around if they should need to? Then if you need to, how would you put out a small fire?’.
