Stamford Police is warning businesses in the town to check carefully any cash that they receive,
particularly £20 and £50 notes, after a large quantity of fake banknotes were reported to be used at a Stamford shop yesterday morning. Officers are asking local businesses across the area to stay vigilant and check notes that are handed over for watermarks and holograms, see through windows, UV features, and serial numbers. If you think you're receiving a counterfeit note, you're being asked to note down a description of the person handing it over, keep the fake cash and call police or report the incident online.
