A rehab and exercise facility in Manton has been awarded over £50,000 from the National Lottery to support safe exercise for older and clinically vulnerable adults in and around Rutland.
Inspire2tri provide specialist classes and programmes for higher level athletes as well as hundreds of rehabbers who attend regular classes held by a team of trained staff and volunteers. Following the success of their outdoor Rainbow Trail, created during the pandemic, this project called Following the Rainbow will allow more people to take advantage of the programme there and give it three years of support.
Manager of Inspire2tri rehab site Jo Roberts says the award will make a huge difference. ‘We've got a brilliant team of instructors, we've got quite a few volunteers, so these people are absolutely brilliant and we rely on them to be able to run the classes that we do here. Some of them are retired nurses, semi retired nurses, teachers and you know, we've got people from all different backgrounds. Some people come once a week, some people come twice a week to help us. They start to know the participants that come as well and that's why you know this funding will help so we can give a little bit to them and help. When they are helping they feel more confident and they've got a little bit more knowledge of conditions as well, which helps us hugely’.
