A new drop-in launched on Thursday morning for people in Rutland and Stamford affected by cancer.
The monthly meeting at the Quaker Meeting House in Oakham from 10.30 through until 12 is now going to be less formal and invite people to drop in for a cuppa. It's operated by volunteers from Stamford and Rutland Cancer Support. Chair, Joan Richardson, explains more.
"Yes, in the past, it's been more of a set meeting where people will come and stay for an hour, an hour and a half, and have a coffee and have a chat generally. But what we're doing is we're perhaps changing it slightly and making it more of a drop-in. So if somebody is affected by cancer, perhaps they've just got a cancer diagnosis and don't know where to turn to for advice, they can just pop in for a cup of coffee or just stay for half an hour if they'd like to."
