New Rutland local plan

 A five-week consultation to help shape Rutland's newest local plan is underway.

The scoping consultation is the first formal stage under the government's revised national planning policy framework and new local planning regulations. The council is specifically seeking views on key planning issues and challenges facing Rutland, along with feedback on how local communities and stakeholders would like to be engaged throughout the new plan-making process.

Rutland already has a plan up to 2041, which is expected to be approved later this year. However, this new plan, which will replace it, has to reflect changes to national planning policy introduced back in December 2024, which have more than doubled Rutland's annual housing target from 123 to 269 homes needing to be built each year.

This latest plan isn't expected to be ready until April 2029.
