The new High Sheriff of Rutland is sworn in today at a ceremony at Oakham Castle.
Former station commandant of Kendrew Barracks, Colonel Richard Chesterfield, takes over from Richard Cole.
‘Gosh, what do I take from it? I think absolutely humbled by the extent to which people volunteered. The amount of volunteers we have in our community making so many things possible and continue to work that selfless giving of their time is just amazing. I think I would just say the power of saying thank you to people is just not to be underestimated and wherever you go, show an interest, listen to people and just be amazed by their stories. Smile and thank them’.
