Thousands came along to Oakham late night shopping last night with stalls and entertainment across the town as well as shops open late.
Victoria Hall also reported a high footfall at its first Christmas tree festival with the People's Choice Christmas Tree from Oakham All Saints Scouts winning first place, Catmos Primary second and Inspire to Try third. The Mayor's choice was the Cooking Caterpillars Cook Club tree.
Helen Groves, Victoria Hall manager, says it really brought the community together.
"Oh, I'm just so impressed with the feedback I've had. I think we've got over 30 trees in total and some of the creativity is so impressive. What people have done, they've really gone to town. We just wanted to create a space for community. That's what we're about at Victoria Hall.
A lot of people think we're part of the council, but we're not. We're an independent, you know, we're run by trustees. We don't get any regular funding. We want to create an amazing space that the community can use. So that was the real reason for doing the festival."
