Final preparations are being made to launch a new youth space next week in Oakham, based behind the Family Hub next to Oakham Library.
The new area has been created by Rutland County Council after feedback from young people. Facilities include a table for multi games, pool, air hockey, and table tennis, an interactive screen boxing machine, a sensory bubble wall, and areas where young people can relax and socialise. The new space will be open every afternoon next week from 4-5.30 with a varied programme of launch events, including Lego Masters on Tuesday, a mocktail bar on Thursday and a games night for year sevens only next Wednesday. The council says next week is just the beginning with teens being encouraged to shape the future of the facility.
