As the Christmas party season gets underway in Rutland and Stamford, police in Rutland and Leicestershire are reminding motorists about the dangers of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
In 2022, nearly 2,000 people were killed or seriously injured on the country's roads where drink or drugs were a factor. Last year over 100 drivers in Rutland and Leicestershire were convicted. Last night police found two vehicles parked in a remote location near Cottesmore. Officers smelt cannabis and seized a quantity of the drug. Driver of one car failed a drugs test and was arrested. Two passengers were dealt with for possession, and police say they obtained valuable intelligence too.
