The forecast of heavy and persistent rain today has meant several outdoor events are not taking place in and around Rutland and Stamford.
Rutland Showground Car Boot was due to return after the county show. Organisers are hoping for better weather next Saturday. Knossington Fete, which was due to raise money for the pre-school and village hall, has been postponed until September and Corby pride’s main event in Coronation Park has also been cancelled, with organisers from Corby Town Council looking into possible future dates to reschedule it. Rutland and Stamford Sound’s weatherman Phil Morrish says we're still catching up from several dry months.
‘We certainly need the rain. Well, we are still fairly low on rain, only 15 mills this day last week. It's starting to rain but we had three months where we're on about 50% less since then. We do need the rain so hopefully most of it will come at night’.
