Rutland County Council is calling for clarity on future government policy
after the Chancellor's Autumn Statement. Council's deputy leader says the increase in National Insurance contributions for businesses will increase their already stretched budget and is calling for reform in the way adult social care and children with special educational needs are funded as a billion increase for SEND nationally is not keeping up with increased demand for the service. Andrew Johnson says what is clear is that the government intends councils to continue to increase council tax to the maximum 5% each time they levy an increase, to continue to provide its essential services and support the most vulnerable.
