The Rutland County Museum is open six days a week from today for the whole of August
with a new interactive exhibition based on two nationally important historic finds from the county. From a virtual reality journey under the sea to the Rutland Ichthyosaur, to a 3D interpretation of the mosaic from Ketton by artist Julian Beever. There's also a sandpit with projection of a volcano and various creatures. Portfolio holder for Heritage Councillor Rosemary Powell says this is just the start of the plans from Rutland County Council as they await the outcome of a lottery bid.
‘We've used government money that we've had through the Levelling Up Fund and also the Shared Prosperity Fund, so if you start to fund the exhibits. We are awaiting the results of the Heritage Lottery bid that we've put in to actually enable us to start off the transformation of the museum so that it can be an exciting place for people to come and is looking into the future’.
