Three coachloads of Morris dancers are descending on Rutland today in three separate tours for our county's 50th anniversary Day of Dance.
They're all meeting at Oakham Castle at 9:45am and then going off on separate tours of village and pub locations, meeting again at Exton at 1:00pm before splitting off again. One of the Rutland members Gordon says Peterborough Morris will be involved in a total of 10 sides represented.
‘We are almost the closest to each other, and so we often get together maybe once or twice a year, and in fact they're coming from Peterborough to join us on our 50th anniversary day event when we'll have around about 130 dancers and three coach tours. So it's going to be a big day. We've been surprised by the reaction and how many people want to come but it's great’.
