Second Stamford Town Scouts say they are awaiting planning permission before they embark on the major fundraising needed for their new club house on Empingham Road.
The Scout group has been fundraising for several months including a stall at the Stamford Dog Show last Sunday where they were one of three beneficiaries from the entry fees for classes. Leader Pauline Jones says planning permission will enable them to access major grants which will get them closer to the estimated £1.4m needed to fund the club house.
“It’s going to be expensive but it’s going to be worth it because we’ll be able to have the facilities we need for the young people,” says Pauline Jones. “We have got an ever growing waiting list so we really need the space and the modern facilities which we haven’t got at the moment”.
