The new commanding officer of the Vikings at Kendrew Barracks says his soldiers are just returning from a training exercise in Kenya and are unlikely to be on parade for Armed Forces Week this week.
Speaking at Rutland's flag raising at Oakham Castle yesterday, Lieutenant Colonel Nick McGinley says he's seen the Royal Anglians become more integrated in the local community since he was last deployed in the county over 10 years ago.
"Yeah, I do. And you know, I've been based here previously back in 2012, and to see the changes that have taken place in that time have been quite significant. And I think the Royal Anglian Regiment in particular, feel a real home here in Oakham and Rutland."
