Staff at Wilko in Stamford say they've been overwhelmed by the support they've received since news of their closure was announced.
We organised a thank you with applause and cheers as the store, which has been on Stamford High Street for more than 40 years, closed its doors for the final time. In the words of the staff themselves:
"Thank you. Thank you for your support, it's been amazing, and the last few weeks where we've known we're closing down, we can't thank you all enough. It's been amazing. Thank you."
And from Rob Persani, Rutland & Stamford Sound Project Manager and Presenter: "Thank you very much. Thank you for being part of Stamford High Street. Really appreciate it, don't we?"
It's now also been announced that Oakham store will shut this coming Monday, as will Peterborough, as part of the latest wave of 111 further Wilko store closures planned next week.
