Robin Ball completed the challenge in just over 22 hours last weekend, raised money for charity and was joined by around 50 members of Stamford Striders running club who found him on GPS.
Robin turned 70 in April, and wanted to undertake a memorable personal challenge, but also to raise money for a charity to help his grandson, who has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease. The Rutland Round is a 65 miles long mapped route of the county, and Robin happens to live two and half miles away from it, so he easily made a 70 mile course. Robin set off at 4pm last Saturday, and finished back home at around 2.15pm the following day, Sunday. He's already raised over a fifteen hundred pounds for Crohn's and Colitis UK. Thanks to a satellite tracker in his rucksack, fellow club members were able to find where he was, and join him at various points en route.
