After a Cruicifix rescued by a Tinwell Vicar was returned to the community of Doingt - Flamincourt sur Somme, links have been built between the two communities. Both have begun the process of twinning, and following a visit by the Rutland Community to Doingt, the French community visited our area over the weekend.
The party of five from Doingt were treated to a tour of Peterborough Cathedral, a meal at The Crown in Stamford, a tour of Burghley House, a tour of Stamford with the Mayor's Guides, and a village party in Tinwell with traditional games and a barbeque. Prior to the village gathering, the minister from the French contingent took Mass in St Peter's Church Tinwell in both French and English.
