Tourism businesses in Rutland are seeing an increase in short breaks as visitors explore more of the county when they spend time here.
The latest figures are also showing a continued recovery from the pandemic with 15% more people coming to the county through 2022 compared to the previous year, although even more visitors came to the County back in 2019. In total tourism is worth almost 150 million pounds to Rutland's economy, which is an increase of nearly 8 million pounds since 2019.
Marie Copley is Tourism Lead for Discover Rutland. She says it's essential that her members work together to encourage further growth.
"I think Discovery Rutland offers businesses a chance to kind of become a community and talk to each other and share the challenges and different opportunities as well. So these networking events help everyone just have a natter, have a catch up and see different venues across the county that they've probably not come to before even though they're locals. It just gives them another excuse to get out there and explore what's on their doorstep."
