Guests of the Ukrainian Rotary Impact Club of Rutland saw the reality of war in their home country last night, as the people of Kharkiv managed to hold off Russian occupation with a sixth as many soldiers as shown in a film by a former Stamford evacuee at Rutland County Museum.
The night raised money to support some that were injured on the battlefield, and the club is also continuing to send wheelchairs and crutches back, collecting them from as far as Scotland. Former Army Commander Richard Chesterfield, the High Sheriff of Rutland in waiting, told the audience in a speech, "Russians don't think like us and power is more highly regarded to them than life."
