South Kesteven District Council is offering up to three hours free parking on Mondays to Wednesdays from next week in both Stamford and Grantham.
You'll still need to get a ticket from the machine or the Ringo app to register your car. The arrangement runs up until Christmas. It is hoped it will boost the town's shops. Cabinet member for Property and Public Engagement Richard Cleaver says they hope it provides a welcome boost over the next few weeks.
‘We appreciate the fact that we need to reflect the need to help people at Christmas and our businesses at Christmas and therefore to offer three hours of free parking in every car park in the district as a long stay and two hours all the short stays Mondays to Wednesdays from the beginning of December up to Christmas Eve’.
Rutland County Council, meanwhile, is offering free parking in its car parks for the Christmas events in Uppingham a week tonight and also Oakham the following Monday, as well as Saturdays in December until Christmas starting with the 7th, which is Small Business Saturday.
