Stamford is getting ready for VE Day commemorations from today
as Union flags go up across the centre of town. Next Thursday, in common with other towns and villages locally, our beacon will be lit in the evening and Stamford Brass will play after a drumhead service from the Stamford branch of the Royal British Legion. There is then a festival on the Recreation Ground next Saturday the 10th of May with dancing led by the Rutland Big Band.
