The communities of Wing and Stretton are meeting to explore options to bring back their local.
The King's Arms was put up for sale when the last occupants left. The Jackson Stops ceased trading suddenly a few weeks ago. Both villages are exploring ways of locals supporting the reopening of their pub. Susanna Fish and David Wood from the steering committee in Wing say they're determined to make a new King's Arms work for the village and further afield.
Susannah says:
"Well, we're launching the fighting fund tonight for donations to help us work out what that price could be. So one of the things we'll be doing is getting it properly valued, and then we will be having a huge fundraising drive offering shares, but that's ahead. At the moment, what we really want to do is to gain donations to make sure that we stand a chance of being able to make a bid."
And David adds:
"And I think the very important thing is just having a village pub for the village alone, it's very difficult to make it pay. It's when you've got a pub that can provide good food and actually attract people from outside, that's when it really works. We think there's a lot more potential in this pub if we succeed in getting hold of it."
