Lincolnshire County Council has released pictures of work on Stamford Town Bridge and say work is on schedule.
Construction workers have already removed the existing road and paths and say they are nearly ready to begin the waterproofing work itself. All stones and kerbs have been numbered so they can be put back in the same order to keep the historic nature of the structure fully intact. They say they will keep the concrete footings and extend the waterproofing work downwards now they've made the discovery. The council's head of highways, Councillor Michael Cheyne, is thanking the public for their cooperation and that Stamford is still very much open for business.
