We are looking to expand our Board of Directors

Over the past four and a half years Rutland and Stamford Sound has become established as a highly regarded community radio station, with a loyal following of listeners who enjoy the music, and value the station as a reliable source of local news and information. The station operates as a not-for-profit community interest company (CIC), with a Board of volunteer directors supporting Station Manager Rob Persani.
We are now seeking to strengthen the CIC Board by recruiting additional volunteer directors who will help Rutland and Stamford Sound through the next stage of its development. This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of a much-loved community asset.

We are looking for individuals who are able to provide strategic oversight at the same time as having capacity to take responsibility for delivery of certain tasks. Specifically, we are looking for new directors who have expertise to contribute in one or more of the following areas:

•    Strategy and resource planning - working with the Station Manager to agree strategic objectives, and ensure that we have the resources to achieve our short-term and long-term goals.
•
Project delivery - providing oversight to the delivery of new projects, helping to ensure we maximise the benefits available from a significant Ofcom grant which has recently enabled us to recruit a part-time Business Development Officer.
•
Recruitment and management of volunteers – helping to develop our volunteer team through greater recognition/celebration of success and by broadening the volunteer base (e.g. identifying ways to provide opportunities to young people).
•
Community engagement - representing Rutland and Stamford Sound in the local community, helping the Station Manager to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.
•
Fundraising - including identifying sources of grant funding.
•
Marketing and promotion - developing and implementing a marketing plan to attract new listeners and new advertisers.
•
Radio experience - able to support the Station Manager with recruitment of presenters and development of new content.

Aside from the Station Manager, Rob Persani, and the recently appointed part-time Business Development Officer, all roles at Rutland and Stamford Sound are filled by volunteers. This includes on-air presenters, plus those performing back-office tasks such as finance, website maintenance and representing the station at events. A key requirement for anyone interested in joining the Board is that they are able to work effectively with a diverse group of volunteers, at the same time as ensuring a safe and positive working environment for everyone involved with the station. A further requirement is being able to attend Board meetings held on a weekday, typically once every two months.

To apply to join the Board of Rutland and Stamford Sound, please provide a one page summary outlining how you are able to contribute to the development of the community radio station serving the Rutland and Stamford area.
