Five days of fundraising begins today at Easton on the Hill with their 17th village gala.
from the fete on Monday and mini car boot to a talent show on Saturday and live music on Friday night throughout Sunday. The event benefits all the village organisations, as organiser Tim Nichol explains.
‘So we have a bowls club, horticultural society, the friends of the church, the village hall, the history society. They are all beneficiaries of the central part, as it were, the sort of central fundraising from the whole weekend, but mainly the Monday activities is where they raise their own money as well on top of that, because they'll all be having stalls in the fete on the Monday. But the whole idea is that basically we have one big event in the year which raises funds for all of our local organisations, helps community cohesion and everybody can get to know one another, create the great community spirit we have in Easton on the Hill. And if we do one event a year then were not constantly pestering people to put their hands in their pockets to support local organisations’.
