A second large solar farm won't now be built north of Stamford following a campaign by Stop Stamford Solar City
against the 2,400 acre Kilnside Energy Park at Pickworth and Casterton. Developers Aukera have withdrawn their application to the Government's Planning Inspectorate. No reason has been given, however expected delays in linking the proposed solar farm to the National Grid are believed to have played a part. Miles Williamson-Noble from Stop Stamford Solar City has been campaigning since last summer against the plans.
‘It was never the right place to have a solar park of this size. It would have completely ruined the visual amenity of the area and would have covered the site of the Battle of Losecoat Field and would have had a major detrimental effect on the value of all the houses. So absolutely wonderful news and we are delighted’.
