Leicester City’s poor run continues, 2-0 defeat to visitors Charlton Athletic, not helped that Okoli was sent off on 15 minutes.

Peterborough United lost 3-2 at home to Huddersfield Town. Posh after trailing 2-0 came back to 2-2 through Lisbie and Dornelly only for Cameron Humphreys to score on 89 minutes.

The Daniels could not make it four wins in a row but do remain unbeaten after drawing 2-2 at home against Bromsgrove Sporting. This was despite leading twice through Leon Lobjoit and Mickey Armstrong only to be denied the win by substitute Benbow late on.

In the Peterborough and District League Premier Division, Uppingham Town drew 1-1 at home to Eye Rangers, Martin Turiccki with their goal. Oakham United went down 2-0 to visitors Crowland Town.

To Division One and Stamford Lions lost for the first time since November, 4-1 away at Oundle Town. The Lions scorer Jack Szymanski.

Ketton Sports Premiair beat Bourne Town Reserves 4-1 to make it through to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, where they will meet South Lincolnshire Swifts. The goals coming from a Nathan Bedford double and one each for Josh Gear and Luke Sturgeon.

Bourne Town lost to a late goal, 1-0 at home to Rugby Borough in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.

United Counties Premier Division North saw Deeping Rangers lose 4-0 away at Gresley Rovers.

Cottesmore failed to extend their winning run to four going down at home 3-0 to Lutterworth Athletic Reserves in the Everards Brewery Premier Division. The Cotts did have their chances, but the opposition were clinical in their finishing.

Women’s Football

Stamford AFC returned to winning ways with their first win of the year, a 3-1 home win over Anstey Nomads in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Premier Division. The goals coming from a Emma Pollard double and Libby Friel in what was a dominant performance from Stamford.

Deeping Rangers could not repeat last week’s home win over top of the table Eaton Socon, losing 1-0 away to them in the Cambridgeshire Women’s League Division 1.

Oakham United’s League Cup quarter final game was postponed.

Rugby

Leicester Tigers remain top of Pool B in the English Premiership Rugby Cup despite losing for the first time to Northampton Saints by 40 points to 22 at Franklin’s Gardens.

The Saints ran in six tries including two from Archie McParland with James Pater in addition to his five conversions also adding a try.

Tigers scored four tries including a debut try for Wilf McCarthy.

Stamford extended their unbeaten run to five in all competitions as they completed a league double over Oadby Wyggestonians in Regional 2 Midlands East. After trailing at one point 13-0, Stamford fought back to earn a bonus point as they won 30-23.

To Counties 3 Midlands East Division (South North) and Oakham could make not it four wins a row despite leading 16-12 at half-time, the visitors who have gone top, Leicester Lions 2nds ran out winners by 22 points to 21. The tries for Oakham coming from Angus Boyle and Sam Weatherall with Lewis Crellin scoring three penalties and a conversion to keep him top of the league’s points scorers.

Disappointment for Stamford College Old Boys as well at Rugby Welsh who they beat back September but this time it was the hosts who won 29-0.

Women’s Rugby

Stamford Women 1sts five game unbeaten run in all competitions has come to an end at Women's NC 1 North (South) leaders Lincoln in the Women's Intermediate Plate by 22 points to 7. The Stamford points coming from a Sarah Mitchelson try and a Daisy Attley conversion.
