Apple trees are being awakened in Stamford and Bourne this afternoon with the annual Wassailing events in the community orchards.
You're encouraged to make lots of noise to ward away evil spirits and get the trees ready to bear fruit. Morris Dancers will be at both events from 4:30pm and traditional songs will be sung. Apple juice and cider will also be on offer. Stamford Community Orchard is at the bottom of Christchurch Close off Green Lane. Details of both events are on the Rutland and Stamford Sound website.
