The Lyndon Visitor Centre opens today for the spring and summer season as anticipation builds for the first Osprey to return to Rutland Water.
Last night, Tim Mackrill, who was one of the founders of the project along with Tim Appleton, launched his new book called "The Osprey" and he said it's an exciting time as we head into March.
"The earliest I think we've had is the 12th of March. It's typically somewhere between the 12th and the 20th you know the first one will be back. And I always think that is just such an exciting moment. Ospreys have become synonymous with Rutland over the last 30 years, and when the first bird comes back, it's a real sign that spring is on the way. People say the first swallow is of start of summer, but actually I think really now it's the ospreys, isn't it?"
