The station commander of RAF Wittering says having the Duchess of Edinburgh as honorary commodore gives the station a huge lift.
Sophie recently visited the base and Wing Commander Nikki Duncan, who's coming to the end of her time in charge there, says having the Duchess's support and interest means a lot to everyone at Wittering.
"100 percent and especially 3 Mobile Catering Squadron, you know, it was their kind of anniversary as well, you know, they're coming up to their special time of to be able to show her what they do in the field and then what they do kind of at home in terms of training to prepare to deploy on operations or exercises to support the whole of defence is really quite special.
And again, then to talk to the families, their partners go away on deployment for those short and long periods of time for her to understand what that means to a family and the pressures on the family, but also what the unit is doing to support those families is just a really cool thing to do. You know, it's definitely the highlight of my tour for sure."
