There's a chance to support research into Crohn's and Colitis today
and explore the bluebells at Rutland Water. The event has a 35 year history as the Bluebell Walk and you can drop in at Whitwell during the morning from 10:00am to pledge to walk between 2 and 9 miles or cycle around the rest of world. Ben Rutter from the charity says they like to keep it relaxed and flexible for their supporters.
‘Yeah, we try and cater to everybody. Obviously all the volunteers that are involved, we are all affected by Crohn’s and Colitis in some way and we know the struggles. So we know that you might wake up on the day and think, oh I'm not feeling great today, I can probably manage a small walk. Fine, come along, we've got two mile walk which anybody who comes to do our event, no matter which challenge you're doing, the two mile walk takes in the Barnsdale Woods, a sea of bluebells. It's incredible. We try and have a nice little area with some face painting. You can pop down a picnic blanket and sit and just enjoy music from you guys and yeah. They'll be some refreshments and some tombolas and just a nice atmosphere as well as volunteers who are there to talk about bowel disease. So if you are feeling a bit alone and you want to have a chat we are there was well to talk to you about them’.
